Third, being like empty space: this means that the essence of a dust mote is empty and has nothing existent; thus it has no boundaries and limits, nor can it be grasped or relinquished, yet it pervades the ten directions and can serve as the support for all principles and phenomena, understandings and practices, possessing inexhaustible great functions. Just as empty space serves as the support for all phenomena and entirely establishes them, lacking boundaries and limits and pervading the ten directions, so it is like empty space. This is to attain the unobstructed functions of the knowledge of empty space and the body of empty space.
