Ninth, explaining the single flavor: this means that dust motes are established through conditions and all lack intrinsic nature. Even though principles, phenomena, teachings, and meanings are of ten thousand distinctions, none are other than the single flavor of empty tranquility; it is merely because of the ten thousand distinctions of pratītyasamutpāda that the single flavor of emptiness is spoken of. If there were no ten thousand distinctions, it would simply be the single flavor. If one raises emptiness, the single flavor is solely emptiness; if one raises nature, the single flavor is solely nature; if one raises suchness, then the single flavor is solely suchness. By this kind of indication it can be known.
