第三事法存泯門，事相隨理，存亡自在，亦融成十義。一、以事全理故，事泯也。二、以理全事故，事存也。三、以前二不相離故，亦存亦泯。四、以二相奪故，非存非泯也。五、以舉體全理，事方成故，即泯而存也。六、以事舉體全成理，無不蕩盡故，即存而泯也。七、以二義相順故，即泯俱存。八、相奪故，即存、即泯俱泯也。九、以前八義同一事法，存、亡自在，無礙俱現故也。十、以同時相奪義故，無不盡圓融。逈超出情表，亦深思可見。

Third is the gate of the preservation and cessation of phenomenal entities. Phenomenon-characteristics accord with principle, existing and perishing freely, also interfusing to form ten meanings: 1. Because phenomena are entirely principle, phenomena cease; 2. Because principle is entirely phenomena, phenomena are preserved; 3. Because the preceding two are inseparable, they are both preserved and ceased; 4. Because the two mutually annul each other, they are neither preserved nor ceased; 5. Because phenomena are formed only when their whole substance is entirely principle, in ceasing they are preserved; 6. Because phenomena in their whole substance completely become principle, with nothing that is not cleared away, in being preserved they cease; 7. Because the two meanings harmonize with each other, in ceasing they are both preserved; 8. Because they mutually annul each other, both preservation and cessation cease; 9. Because the preceding eight meanings belong to the same phenomenal entity, existing and perishing freely, they manifest together unobstructed; 10. Through the meaning of simultaneous mutual annulment, there is complete perfect interfusion without remainder. Transcending conventional sentiment, this too can be seen through deep contemplation.
