Sixth, the gate of concealment and manifestation of multiple phenomena. When multiple phenomena are viewed in relation to the one, there is gathering and entering, and concealment and manifestation are spontaneous; this also has ten meanings. First: because the many gather the one, the many manifest. Second: because the many enter the one, the many are concealed. Third: because manifest and entering both appear, it is both concealed and manifest. Fourth: because gathering and entering mutually negate, both are negated. Fifth: because the many can gather the one only then can they enter the one, manifest is constantly concealed. Sixth: because the many can enter the one only then can they gather the one, concealed is constantly manifest. Seventh: because possessing the preceding two meanings only then does it constitute the many, being concealed and being manifest both appear. Eighth: two meanings of the same substance must mutually negate completely; thus concealment and manifestation are both negated. Ninth: combining the preceding eight meanings to appear suddenly at the same time, the characteristics manifest. Tenth: because the preceding dharmas and meanings mutually contrast with and negate each other, they are obliterated and transcendent. Contemplate this following the preceding.
