The ultimate is the highest fruition. It is also called ultimate enlightenment. Sarvākārajñatā is one of the three wisdoms. Formerly, Guifeng in his commentary on the Sutra of Perfect Enlightenment used sarvākārajñatā to explain complete illumination. Xianshou composed Return to the Source, wherein through complete illumination one realizes bodhi. The present text's statement that possessing sarvākārajñatā constitutes the attainment of bodhi, when considered comprehensively, reveals that although their expressions differ slightly, their fundamental intent is largely the same. If one relies on the Awakening of Faith, possessing great wisdom and applying immeasurable expedient means, up to gaining the name sarvākārajñatā, all belong to the common teaching. Furthermore, consulting Zhaoxin's subcommentary, it relates that the capacities of the five teachings each attain bodhi, but it exclusively takes the complete school, wherein the two gates of cause and fruition mutually subsume each other, to be the distinct teaching.
