夫至聖垂教以因緣為宗，緣有內外之殊，世出世之異，故標第一明諸緣起也。

The consummate sage, in bequeathing the teachings, took causes and conditions as the fundamental principle. Conditions have the distinction of internal and external, the difference of mundane and supramundane; hence the first section is designated to clarify all instances of pratītyasamutpāda.
