1.58

觀曰：問：「理既全體遍一塵，何故非小？既不同塵而小，何得說為全體遍於一塵？又一塵全匝於理性，何故非大？若不同理而廣大，何得全遍於理性？既成矛盾，義極相違。」

The contemplation states: Question: Since principle completely in its entirety pervades a single dust particle, why is it not small? Since it is not small like the dust particle, how can it be said to completely in its entirety pervade a single dust particle? Furthermore, a single dust particle completely encompasses the nature of principle, so why is it not large? If it is not broad and large like principle, how can it completely pervade the nature of principle? This becomes a contradiction, and the meanings are utterly incompatible.
