釋曰:此釋理望事四句中,前二正明遍塵非小之相,初句遍塵,第二句非小。其三四二句遍酬其難。難意云:遍塵非小,二義相違,何得互通?今第三句明大理遍在一塵;第四句明雖遍非小,其無分限則非小也。即雙答遍塵難非小,及非小難遍一塵,難雖兩叚,但一相遍耳。
Explanation: In explaining these four propositions of viewing phenomena from principle, the first two directly clarify the characteristics of pervading the dust particle and not being small: the first proposition pervades the dust particle, and the second proposition is not being small. The third and fourth propositions completely respond to the challenge. The sense of the challenge said: Pervading a dust particle and not being small are two mutually contradictory meanings; how can they be reconciled? Now the third proposition clarifies that the great principle pervades and is within a single dust particle; the fourth proposition clarifies that although it pervades, it is not small, for having no boundaries or limits means it is not small. That is, it dually answers both the challenge using pervasion of a dust particle against non-smallness and the challenge using non-smallness against pervasion of a single dust particle. Although the challenge has two parts, it is merely a single mutual pervasion.
