觀曰：五、以理奪事門，謂事既攬理成，遂令事相皆盡，唯一真理，平等顯現，以離真理外無片事可得故。如水奪波，波無不盡，此則水存已壞波令盡。

The Contemplation states: 5. The gate of principle subduing phenomena: this means that since phenomena are established by taking up principle, the characteristics of phenomena are consequently entirely eliminated, and only the one true principle is equally manifested, because outside of true principle not the slightest phenomenon can be found. Just as water subdues waves so that waves are without exception eliminated, here water remaining has already destroyed waves to make them vanish entirely.
