The Contemplation states: 6. The gate of phenomena being able to conceal principle: this means that true principle accords with conditions to form all phenomenal events. But since these phenomenal events run counter to principle, they consequently cause phenomena to be manifest and principle to be unmanifest. Just as water forms waves, motion is manifest and stillness is concealed. A sūtra states: “The dharmakāya transmigrates through the five destinies and is named ‘sentient beings.’” Therefore when sentient beings are manifest, the dharmakāya is unmanifest.
