前雖說色，是簡情計以成真空，空色無礙泯絕無寄方為真如之理。未顯真如妙用，故唯是真空觀門，未為理事無礙。今諸事與理炳然雙融，故得此觀名也。文三，謂一標、二釋、三結勸也。

Although rūpa was discussed earlier, it was to eliminate emotional clinging so as to accomplish true emptiness; only when emptiness and rūpa are unobstructed and there is total cessation without resting on anything does it constitute the principle of tathatā. Because the wondrous functioning of tathatā had not yet been revealed, it was solely the gate of the contemplation of true emptiness, not yet the non-obstruction between principle and phenomena. Now, all phenomena and principle are clearly and mutually fused; hence it receives the name of this contemplation. The text has three parts: first, presenting [the gates]; second, explaining [them]; third, concluding with an exhortation.
