[This] designates [the themes]. Only when endowed with these ten is it termed the non-obstruction between principle and phenomena. Contemplating them in the mind is termed the 'contemplating subject.' Contemplating phenomena corresponds to the conventional, and contemplating principle corresponds to the ultimate; causing contemplation to be unobstructed accomplishes the contemplation of the ultimate truth of the Middle Way. Compassion and wisdom will naturally guide each other, accomplishing non-abiding practice. This already serves as the culmination of the Common Teaching of the Great Vehicle. Therefore, the third contemplation below is the Distinct Teaching of the One Vehicle, which is far removed from all other teachings. Above, the explanation of what was designated is concluded. Next below, individually explaining the ten gates, there are five pairs: first, mutual pervasion; second, mutual establishment; third, mutual subversion; fourth, mutual identity; fifth, mutual negation. Within the first pair there are four [sections]: first, the direct explanation; second, praising its profundity; third, pointing via metaphors; fourth, questions and answers. In the first [section], the text also has two parts.
