先出遍之所由。由前門理如事故即，事不異理故遍。此與前門互相如為一對，又與後門以非一非異互望能遍能含為一對。

First, he shows the reason for pervasion. Because of the previous gate, principle is like phenomena, and hence they are identical; because phenomena are not different from principle, they pervade. This and the previous gate form a pair through mutual likeness; furthermore, [this gate] and the subsequent gate form another pair by being mutually viewed through neither identity nor difference as capable of pervasion and capable of containment.
