The upper "one" is the subsumed object, and the lower "one" is the entered object. Since both are objects, this shows that there must separately be an active phenomenon that serves as the host. The original text feared that introducing it into the clause would cause confusing clutter and be hard to grasp, so it omitted it. The remaining three propositions are also like this. Furthermore, regarding this proposition: one should say, "the one can subsume the one and enter the one." For example, the eastern mirror can subsume the southern mirror, and carry it along into the western mirror: the eastern mirror is the subsuming and entering subject, the southern [mirror] is the subsumed object, and the western [mirror] is the entered object. This is precisely the World-Honoured One Śākyamuni subsuming the Bodhisattva Mañjuśrī and entering into Samantabhadra. Directly taking all Buddhas as the active subject is also permissible.
