色空之文各有二句，皆先標無礙所以，下出無礙之相。謂若色是實色，即礙於空；空是斷空，即礙於色。今既色是幻色，故不礙空；空是真空，故不礙色也。有本云「色不盡而空現」，亦通，然不如無。

The texts on rūpa and emptiness each have two lines; both first present the reason for non-obstruction, and then bring forth the characteristics of non-obstruction. That is, if rūpa were real rūpa, it would obstruct emptiness; if emptiness were an annihilationist emptiness, it would obstruct rūpa. Now, since rūpa is illusory form, it does not obstruct emptiness; since emptiness is true emptiness, it does not obstruct rūpa. Some editions read 'without rūpa being exhausted, emptiness manifests', which also makes sense, but is not as good as lacking [the character 'not'].
