二十重華藏世界，染淨區分；百萬億佛國莊嚴，樓閣無盡。二種依報更互通依、種種相容，故曰重疊也。

The twenty tiers of the Flower Treasury World demarcate the defiled and the pure; the adornments of millions of billions of Buddha-lands are inexhaustible pavilions. The two kinds of circumstantial retribution mutually depend upon and accommodate one another in various ways; hence it is called "layer upon layer."
