切忌話作雨橛，棄有著空是錯。此頌離色明空之病。疏云「空在色外，如牆處不空，牆外是空。」永嘉云：「棄有著空病亦然，還如避溺而投火」矣。

Be careful not to speak of them as two separate stakes; abandoning existence and attaching to emptiness is wrong. This gāthā addresses the illness of departing from form to clarify emptiness. The Commentary says: 'Emptiness is outside of form, like where a wall stands is not empty, but outside the wall is empty.' Yongjia says: 'Abandoning existence and clinging to emptiness is an illness just the same; / it is just like escaping drowning by jumping into fire.'
