The paratantra objective realm is calm; through parikalpita attachment it appears as existent. An ancient worthy said: 'False calculation becomes attachment; confusing a rope, one calls it a snake.' In a mirror there are originally no reflections; reflections being unreal reveals the clarity of the mirror. Water is known to be pure only because of the moon; the sky is seen to be high only because it is free of clouds. This gāthā illustrates that within true emptiness there is no substantial form. Illusory form has no entity, thereby revealing true emptiness.
