數峰青翠處，孰委是雲根。波瀾者，千差事法也。澄湛者，純清一理也。唯顯成事之波，不顯湛然理矣。

Where several peaks are verdant and green, / Who knows this to be the root of the clouds? "Billows" refers to the myriad differentiated phenomena. "Limpid and clear" refers to the purely clear one principle. Only the waves that form phenomena are revealed, while the limpid principle is not revealed.
