當堂不正坐，誰赴兩頭機。此頌事非一則成事義，非異則體空義也。理非異則不變義，非一則隨緣義也。約悟者轉物同己則似親矣，迷者心隨物轉則疏遠矣。今則通局無礙，泯一異、絕親疎，物物明矣。

Sitting upright in the hall without bias, / Who responds to the potentials at both ends? This gāthā means: phenomena being non-identical constitutes the meaning of phenomena; being non-different constitutes the meaning of emptiness of substance. Principle being non-different constitutes the meaning of unchanging; being non-identical constitutes the meaning of according with conditions. In terms of the awakened, transforming things to be identical with oneself resembles closeness; for the confused, the mind turning along with things constitutes estrangement. Now, pervasion and restriction are unobstructed, obliterating identity and difference, cutting off closeness and distance; each and every thing is luminous.
