A sesame pancake made of flour, all people believe; that a steelyard weight is iron, I have no doubt. This gāthā illustrates that physical phenomena are formed from the gathering of conditions, like images produced by an illusionist's art; knowing with wisdom that they originally have no self-entity, they are identical with true emptiness. The Sūtra of Perfect Enlightenment says: 'Because the extinction of illusion is extinguished, the non-illusory is not extinguished.' The non-illusory is precisely true emptiness.
