When effort is exhausted, forget the place of reliance; / Turning the body, the path of awakening is profound.
The meaning is: 'One' is the beginning of numbers. It means that the single, true, unchanging principle marvelously can accord with conditions and pervade the thousands of differentiated phenomenal dharmas. The Contemplation says: 'In each and every phenomenon, principle is entirely and fully pervading, not partially pervading. Why? Because that true principle cannot be divided.' Using this as a gate, contemplative wisdom is born; the practitioner here should realize that the self-nature of the dharmakāya has the wondrous function of according with conditions, directly clarifying that principle does not obstruct phenomena.
