教分記云：同教者（云云）。初約法相交參以明一乘，謂如三乘中亦有說因陀羅微細等而主伴不具，或亦說花藏世界而不說十等，或一乘中亦有三乘法相等。謂如十眼中亦具五眼，十通中亦有六通，而義理全別。此即一乘垂於三乘、三乘參於一乘，是即兩宗交接連綴引攝成根欲性令入別教一乘故也。

The Record on the Teaching Aspect says: Regarding the shared teaching (and so forth): first, to clarify the One Vehicle in terms of the intermingling of the characteristics of dharmas, this means, for instance, that within the three vehicles there is also mention of the subtlety of Indra['s net] and so forth, yet ruler and retinue are not complete; or they also mention the world of the Flower Treasury, yet do not speak of the ten [mysteries] and so forth; or within the One Vehicle there are also the characteristics of the dharmas of the three vehicles, such that within the ten eyes the five eyes are also complete, and within the ten superknowledges the six superknowledges are also contained, yet their doctrinal principles are completely distinct. This is precisely the One Vehicle descending to the three vehicles, and the three vehicles participating in the One Vehicle; that is, the two traditions join and connect with each other, drawing in and gathering [beings] to mature their faculties, desires, and natures so that they may enter the distinct teaching of the One Vehicle.
