Fa's Record states: Regarding 'the three self-natures are all realms of ordinary beings': the dependent and the perfected are not realms of ordinary beings, yet because they are taught and shown: 'this is the imagined, this is the dependent and perfected', ordinary beings are able to enter naturelessness. Regarding 'in terms of the gate of understanding, the three non-natures are separately established': Question: How are the three non-natures within the gate of understanding? Answer: The principle of non-being does not reach apparent existence, and naturelessness does not reach following conditions. That is, in the mature teaching, the three realms are solely created by ignorance. It also says: created by the conjunction of truth and delusion. It also says: created solely by the one true mind. Dismissing these threefold creations in order to reveal the principle of cessation: the principle of non-being of the imagined does not reach the apparent existence of truth and delusion, and the naturelessness of this apparent existence does not reach the following of conditions by tathatā; therefore [it is thus]. Regarding 'in terms of the gate of practice, outside the three natures the three non-natures are not established': Question: In the gate of practice, if the three non-natures are not separately established, on what basis are they the three non-natures? Answer: Solely because of non-being can they be called the three non-natures. If they were existent, how could there be naturelessness? Question: If so, why does the Commentary on the Sixth Ground say: 'When the real object is dismissed and ceases, one immediately attains a portion of the markless nature, because marklessness manifests.' The conceptualized objects of consciousness-only together do not arise, which is called attaining the nature of naturelessness. Is this the consciousness-only contemplation of the gate of practice? Answer: Solely because of dismissal does one then know non-being.
