大記云：諸法之真源者，緣起分究竟之玄宗者，證分也。此義證教二分通有十佛故也。若唯證分之中有十佛，則證分是教分之源，故云真源也。又秀業之意則真源，則智玄宗則境也。真智所見之境方得云玄耳，故云甚深難解也。

The *Great Record* states: "The true source of all dharmas" refers to the pratītyasamutpāda aspect; "the ultimate profound tenet" refers to the realization aspect. This is because this meaning of the ten Buddhas applies to both the realization and teaching aspects. If the ten Buddhas were only within the realization aspect, then the realization aspect would be the source of the teaching aspect; hence it says "true source." Furthermore, according to Xiuye's intention, the "true source" is wisdom, and the "profound tenet" is the object. Only the object seen by true wisdom can be called profound; hence it says "profound and difficult to understand."
