The Great Record states: Regarding 'coming and going is the meaning of according with conditions, which is the meaning of causes and conditions; being unmoving is the meaning of facing the origin, which is the meaning of pratītyasamutpāda': Master Zang said, 'Going, coming, and being unmoving are precisely a single entity' (end of quotation). Since each manifests one meaning, they mutually permit each other. Pratītyasamutpāda is named because of being equal and unarisen; therefore it says that 'the meaning of facing the origin is precisely the meaning of pratītyasamutpāda'.
