Although the purpose of the above five items is light, the physical items are cumbersome and heavy, difficult to transport at a moment's notice. Moreover, they are secondary accessories along the path and not intimately necessary; hence they are all classified as heavy property. Within the second category, there is a slightly light aspect: for example, trimming knives and scissors are permitted by the Buddha to be kept, encompassing both large and small sizes, which can be judged according to the scriptures. Those with a four-inch blade, whether with handles of iron, wood, horn, or bone, fall under light property. If they exceed this measure, or if any of the above knives are adorned with gold and jewels, even if the blade is only an inch, they are classified as heavy property on account of the precious materials. Regarding the size of whetstones, there is no text in the Vinayas or treatises. If it constantly accompanies the knife as an accessory, it is classified as light property.
