First: agricultural lands and planting. In the root Vinaya, planting trees oneself or instructing others to do so, if not done for the Buddha, Dharma, or Saṅgha, is termed committing evil conduct. The Samantapāsādikā states: "If a householder donates fields and lands, an individual may not receive them." The Mahīśāsaka states: "If fields and houses are donated to the saṅgha, it is permitted to receive them, having pure attendants manage them."
