Observing this, one recognizes the two paths of physical form and mind, the twin tracks of phenomena and principle: Physical form is bound to worldly habits, constantly entangled in the aggregates of suffering; hence it must be subdued so as to take refuge, dissecting and analyzing, to contemplate its arrogance and delusion. The mind is confined by erroneous inversions, which consist in taking what is born as permanent; hence one must mirror arising and ceasing to discipline it, reflecting and recollecting, to know its false attachments. One deeply considers that the four mountains constantly oppress us, and unless observed moment to moment, one does not know how keenly they press upon the body; the eight inversions intertwine, and unless observed anew at each moment, one does not understand how to regulate the mind. Therefore, dissecting and analyzing to quiet arrogance and delusion is not what those who have severed craving rejoice in; reflecting and recollecting to weary of false attachments is what ordinary beings turn their backs on. One must surely grasp the sincere teachings and rectify and verify them through the Dharma; then the born body will not be abandoned in vain to the lower dust, and the non-conscious will not be born in vain into higher destinies.
