有人心路慞惶，情投莫準，聞余此及，勃爾興言，撫掌大笑曰：「言何容易？一何虛誕？嗟乎不學，浪有涉言。吾聞真俗竝觀，登住方修，如何下凡僣他上聖？理義不可，急須改之。」

There was a person whose mind was flustered and whose feelings had no direction; hearing these words of mine, he spoke up abruptly, clapped his hands, and laughed loudly, saying: “How can you speak so lightly? How completely absurd! Alas, being unlearned, you speak so recklessly! I have heard that contemplating the ultimate and conventional together is cultivated only upon ascending the stages (bhūmis); how can an inferior ordinary person usurp the superior sages? In principle and meaning it is impermissible; you must make haste to correct it.”
