2.36

有人聞余此告，掉笑輕之。余云：「不要必捉探收束，聞名即禮，作意策御，方可及耳。現見俗人禮佛，拜拜不虧，道人在道，趂拜希有。」

There was a person who, upon hearing this counsel of mine, chuckled and disparaged it. I said: 'You must not be negligent in holding and gathering your mind; hearing the name, you should immediately bow, exercising deliberate intention to rein yourself in—only then can you measure up. You clearly see laypeople bowing to the Buddha without skimping on a single prostration, while religious people in the monastic path who keep pace with their prostrations are rare indeed.'
