《增一》云：「眾生三業造惡，臨終憶如來功德者，必離惡趣，得生天上。正使極惡之人以念佛故，亦得生天。」
The Ekottara-āgama states: 'If sentient beings create evil with the three karmas, yet at the time of death recall the Tathāgata's virtues, they will certainly leave the evil destinies and attain rebirth in heaven. Even if one is an extremely evil person, by virtue of recollecting the Buddha, one will also attain rebirth in heaven.'
