Fifth, explaining the exclusive recollection of the Buddha's virtues: cultivating benevolence and compassion is called true offering. The practitioner, with a pure and deep mind, at all times recollects the Buddha's great kindness in enabling them to escape birth-and-death, just as one thinks of one's parents. The latter is merely the nurture of this physical body for a single lifetime. The Buddha's kindness is profound and heavy; for the sake of all sentient beings, he entered the prison of the three realms of existence, diligently instructing and admonishing them to practice correct practice, so that they could escape the suffering of countless kalpas of birth-and-death. Therefore, today I constantly recollect the Buddha's kindness. Moreover, because of recollecting the Buddha, seeds of goodness arise, and the fruits of merit cannot be exhausted. Thus the Suvarṇaprabhāsa Sūtra states: 'Karma initiated toward the Buddha has boundless fruition.'
