1.52

答曰：「其人聰明，善解大乘，以下諸人並皆俊艾，一代之寶也。絕後光前，仰之所不及，故其所譯以悟達為先，得佛遺寄之意也。又從毘婆尸佛已來譯經。」

He replied: “The man was brilliant and adept at understanding the Mahāyāna, and all those below him were outstanding talents; they were the treasures of an era. Surpassing the future and illuminating the past, they were beyond what one could look up to [and reach]. Therefore, his translations made awakening and comprehension their foremost priority, grasping the intent of the Buddha's final entrustment. Moreover, he has been translating scriptures ever since the time of Vipaśyin Buddha.”
