答曰：「非也。後人築臺於上，植樹供養，焉有佛殿之側頓置驢耶？又中驢之名，本是閭國，郡國之故地也。後人不練，遂妄擬之。此事兩本，所說各異，故備錄之。」

He replied: “It is not so. Later generations built a terrace there and planted trees to make offerings; how could a donkey have been kept right beside a Buddha hall? Moreover, the name ‘Zhonglü’ originally came from Lü State, an ancient territory of commanderies and states. Later generations were not well versed in this, and so falsely drew the comparison. There are two different accounts of this matter, so both are recorded in full.”
