I asked again: “Regarding Hedong Monastery in Jingzhou, this monastery was very large. I have been friends with Dharma Master Song of Ci'en Monastery for many years; that man was a student under Dharma Master Yun of Hedong Monastery. He said: ‘This monastery once housed ten thousand monks, the greatest in China.’ Hearing this, I rejoiced, but could not fathom the name ‘Hedong’. Please elaborate on it, as it is also a grand spectacle of the Buddhadharma.”
