唐乾封二年春未，《感通》出之，統祥諸西域聖迹，此為條貫，隨語隨疎，且存筆受，事超凡表，周絕飾詞，幸有逢者，知斯大意。余見前代諸傳，組織表軸，殊有可觀，至於時代，罕有存者。覽法師所作，前後表之，敢附後庶，足為龜鏡，開卷鑒目，無昧心神，可不好耶？

At the end of spring in the second year of the Qianfeng era of the Tang (667 CE), the Gantong was brought forth, comprehensively ordering all the sacred traces of the Western Regions. Taking this as an outline, as words were uttered, notes were made accordingly, merely preserving the dictated text. The matter transcends the realm of ordinary beings and completely dispenses with embellishing phrases. If any fortunate persons encounter it, they will know this grand purport. I have seen the various transmissions of previous dynasties, with ornate phrasing and mounting, quite spectacular to behold; yet when it comes to [surviving through] the ages, rarely has any been preserved. Reading what the Dharma Master composed, presented from beginning to end, I dare append this at the end in the hope that it will suffice as a clear mirror: opening the roll and examining it with the eyes, may the mind and spirit be unclouded. Is that not fine indeed?
