《律》云：「不得細薄。大衣，新者二重。餘二衣，並一重。」《十誦》中：「大衣，故者四重。餘二衣，並二重。」《薩婆多》中：「大衣，三重。一重新，二重故。」
The Vinaya says: "It must not be thin and fine. If new, the great robe has two layers. The other two robes each have one layer." In the Sarvāstivāda-vinaya: "If old, the great robe has four layers. The other two robes each have two layers." In the Sarvāstivāda: "The great robe has three layers: one layer new, two layers old."
