比見樂學戒者，欲置法服，不知所裁，既昧律儀，多承妄習。然其制度，遍在諸文，故撮其大要，兼所見聞。還宗舊章，且分十位。援引正教，庶令事有準承；指斥非濫，所謂不看他面。

Lately I have seen those who take delight in studying the precepts wishing to provide themselves with the dharma robes, yet not knowing how to cut them; already blind to the vinaya deportment, they mostly follow erroneous customs. However, their regulations are found everywhere across the various texts; therefore I have gathered their main essentials, together with what I have seen and heard. Returning to the old regulations as our source, I provisionally divide them into ten sections. By citing the authentic teachings, I hope that matters will have an authoritative standard; by censuring errors and abuses, I truly show no personal favoritism.
