二、釋名者。梵語「僧祇支」，此云「上狹下廣衣」。（此據《律》文以翻，全乖衣相。若準應法師《音義》，翻云「掩腋衣」，頗得其實）覆肩，華語，末詳梵言。

Second, explaining the names. In Sanskrit, saṅkakṣikā; here it is translated as "upper-narrow lower-wide robe." (This translation is based on the Vinaya text, but it completely diverges from the form of the robe. If one follows Master Yinying's Yinyi, it is translated as "armpit-covering robe," which captures the reality quite well.) "Shoulder-covering" is Chinese; the Sanskrit term has not yet been clarified.
