We, [so-and-so] and others, once again with utmost sincerity prostrate with our five limbs touching the ground. Ever since we possessed a conscious spirit down to the present day, receiving bodies of the four modes of birth within the six destinies, the sins and evils produced therein have been endless and inexhaustible. Such sins are known completely and seen completely only by all the Buddhas of the ten directions and the bodhisattvas of the great stages. In whatever quantity these sins and evils are known and seen by the Buddhas and bodhisattvas, today with sincere minds we knock our heads on the ground, seek pity, and with shame and remorse repent them: may the sins already committed be completely dissolved and eradicated, and those not yet committed not dare to be committed again! We look up and pray that all the Buddhas of the ten directions, with great loving-kindness, will receive the repentance made today by us, [so-and-so] and others, and with the water of great compassion wash away all our defilements of sin that can obstruct bodhi, causing us to reach the bodhimaṇḍa in ultimate purity. We further pray that all the Buddhas of the ten directions, through their inconceivable power, the power of their fundamental vows, the power of liberating sentient beings, and the power of protecting sentient beings, will cause us, [so-and-so] and others, to take vows and generate the bodhicitta today. From now on until we sit in the bodhimaṇḍa, may it be ultimately established, never to retrogress, and may all our vows be identical to the vows practiced by the bodhisattvas. We look up and pray that all the Buddhas of the ten directions and the bodhisattvas of the great stages, with minds of compassion and loving-kindness, will together gather and embrace us, so that we, [so-and-so] and others, may fulfill the vows of bodhi according to our wishes, and that all sentient beings may each be fully endowed and fulfill the vows of bodhi.
