Today, assembly sharing this karmic endeavor in the bodhimaṇḍa! Once more increase your utmost sincerity and listen attentively! Bodhisattva Viśuddhamati addressed the Buddha, saying: "Bhagavat! There are sentient beings who are crippled, lame, hunchbacked, paralyzed in the loins and uncoordinated, limping in their legs and broken in their hands, unable to walk. What sin has caused this?" The Buddha said: "In former lives, they were cruel and harsh, planting spikes along roads or laying spring-traps and pitfall lances to ensnare and drop living beings. Due to this evil karma, they receive this retribution of sin."
