If one speaks of immediate emptiness, immediate provisionality, and immediate middle, the three kinds proceed in gradual succession, each distinct from the other. The three expressions are all empty because of being masterless, because of being falsely posited, and because of being boundless; the three are all provisional because they equally possess names; the three expressions are all middle because they hit the mark of the true, hit the mark of the capacity, and hit the mark of the real, and thus are all middle. This grasps the distinctive but misses the perfect, and so forth.
