1.54

若其心念念欲得名聞，四遠八方稱揚欽詠，內無實德，虛比賢聖，起下品十惡如摩犍提者，此發鬼心、行刀途道。

If in thought after thought one's mind desires fame and renown, praised and admired from the four quarters and eight directions, lacking actual virtue within, falsely comparing oneself to sages and worthies, giving rise to the inferior grade of the ten unwholesome actions like Mākandika, this is generating the ghost mind and traversing the path of swords.
