《禪經》云：「佛以四隨說法，隨樂、隨宜、隨治、隨義。」將護彼意，說悅其心；附先世習，令易受行；觀病輕重，設藥多少；道機時熟，聞即悟道。豈非隨機感應利益？
The Chan Jing says: 'The Buddha preaches the Dharma according to four conformities: according to what is delighted in, according to what is suitable, according to what cures, and according to the ultimate meaning.' Protecting their intentions, he speaks to please their minds; adapting to past habits, he makes it easy to receive and practice; observing whether the sickness is light or severe, he applies more or less medicine; when the potential for the path has ripened in due time, upon hearing they instantly awaken to the path.
