2.90

若亦滅亦不滅而欲生者，若從滅生，不須亦不滅；若從不滅生，不須亦滅。不定之因，那生定果？若其體一，其性相違；若其體異，本不相關。

If it arises both when it ceases and does not cease: if it arises from ceasing, it does not need non-ceasing; if it arises from non-ceasing, it does not need ceasing. How can an indeterminate cause produce a determinate effect? If their substance is one, their natures are mutually contradictory; if their substances are different, they are inherently unrelated.
