3.229

今更料簡。四種止觀皆實不虛。所以者何？若不開決，則無入理。今決了聲聞法，是諸經之王，開方便門，示真實相；一一止觀皆得入圓。如快馬見鞭影，即得正路。故四種皆實也。

Now we further discriminate: all four kinds of calming and contemplation are real and not false. Why is this? If they were not opened and resolved, there would be no entry into principle. Now resolving the śrāvaka dharma, which is the king of all sūtras, opening the provisional door and revealing the true reality—each and every calming and contemplation attains entry into the perfect. Just as a swift horse, seeing the shadow of the whip, immediately takes the correct path, so all four kinds are real.
