If one believes that the three virtues are absolutely transcendent, great, and inconceivable, then once the meaning of their connection is clear, one must believe that calming and contemplation are absolutely transcendent, great, and inconceivable. If one believes that the completion of the three dharmas of nirvāṇa is called the secret storehouse, one also believes that the completion of the three calmings is called great quiescent concentration and is called the secret storehouse; one also believes that the completion of the three contemplations is called great wisdom and is called the secret storehouse; and one also believes that the completion of the three dharmas of neither calming nor contemplation is called the secret storehouse. If one believes that the three virtues are neither vertical nor horizontal, neither parallel nor separate, like the three dots [of the letter i] or the three eyes [of Maheśvara], one also believes that the three calmings and three contemplations are neither vertical nor horizontal, neither parallel nor separate.
