第二、釋止觀名者，大途梗概，已如上說。復以何義立止觀名？略有四：一、相待，二、絕待，三、會異，四、通三德。

Second, as for explaining the names of calming and contemplation: the general outline has already been explained above. By what meanings are the names 'calming' and 'contemplation' established? Briefly, there are four: first, relative; second, absolute; third, harmonizing differences; and fourth, penetrating the three virtues.
