不穿者，是持波夜提等也。若有毀犯，如器穿漏，不能受道，故名為「穿」。
The unpierced precept means upholding the prāyaścittika and other offenses. If there is violation, one is like a vessel pierced and leaking, unable to receive the way; hence it is called 'pierced'.
